David Drysdale

Mr. David Drysdale assumed duties as University Librarian at the University of Technology, Jamaica (UTech) on 1 June 2009 and with this position became coordinator of the College Libraries Information Network (COLINET). He has substantial experience in librarianship, having served at various senior levels in the Jamaica Library Service (Public Library Network) prior to his current position. He holds a Masters of Arts Degree in Library and Information Studies from the University of the West Indies (2004) and a Bachelor of Arts (Upper Second Class Hons.) in Library Studies from the University of the West Indies (1995).

Mr. Drysdale has extensive experience as a Librarian in various roles over some 20 years, and has also worked as a Lecturer in the Department of Library and Information Studies at the University of the West Indies, Mona. Prior to his career as a Librarian, he worked in the field of journalism for both print and electronic media in Jamaica.

He also has the distinction of being appointed in a number of professional leadership roles namely:

  • President of the Association of Librarians in Jamaica Library Service (1996–1999)
  • President of the Library and Information Association of Jamaica (LIAJA)—2007/2008

Chair of several conference committees for both local and international library conferences.
