DevConnect 2021: Visually exploring current events patterns in WorldCat records and holdings data
Alexandria Kalika of OCLC will show how machine learning algorithms and data visualizations can showcase some of the data stored in WorldCat records as it relates to current events.
This event is on-demand.
This talk focuses on showing how data visualizations and machine learning can showcase some of the data stored in OCLC's WorldCat records as it relates to current events – holdings related to racism, racial justice, police brutality and work by authors who became best sellers during turbulent year of 2020.
In this talk I will be showing how to I used Tableau, RStudio and Python to visualize collections data across different subject headings and will also explore any relationships or commonalities among the types of libraries who carry materials that reflect current events.
