OCLC Product Day
We have organised a special one day meeting to follow directly after the EMEA Regional Council on Thursday 23 February. The one day meeting will be an ideal opportunity to get a more detailed view of services like WorldShare® Management Services with demonstrations and discussion from key product personnel.
This meeting will take place at Hall Döblin, Park Inn by Radisson Berlin Alexanderplatz. The programme is in English and if you are interested in attending this third product day, please mention it on your registration form, as places are limited.

The new generation of library services platforms require scale. Today, more than 400 libraries worldwide use WMS to share data that underpins library services for workflow efficiencies —in the areas of acquisitions, circulation, metadata, Inter-Library loans, discovery, and e-resource management —into one streamlined, cloud-hosted system. Collaborating globally to reduce the time spent locally on routine tasks, libraries are able to focus more on the customer. In this session, we will talk about some of the latest developments taking place with WorldCat Discovery and WMS that are freeing staff to serve their user communities in more innovative ways. We will also focus on the analytical capabilities of WMS. With WorldShare Reports and now WorldShare Report Designer, libraries can obtain, analyse and share data with ease that helps understand resource usage and impact like never before. Take a look at this functionality and what exactly it means for your library’s decision making and performance monitoring capacity. |

14:45–15:30 | From insight to action—SCS and GreenGlass Decision Support for Print Monographs Chris Négrel, Director, Library Solutions, OCLC; Rick Lugg, Executive Director, OCLC Sustainable Collection Services The role of local print book collections is changing. Competition for library space and improved ability to share collections have caused significant changes in how those collections are managed. Since 2011, OCLC Sustainable Collection Services (SCS) has worked with academic libraries to develop services and tools that provide rich context for decisions to retain, store, or withdraw specific items. Increasingly, consortia and other groups are collaborating, using tools such as the GreenGlass group features to model and allocate retention commitments. This data-driven approach enables a group first to create a monographs safety net, which in turn enables other group members to withdraw surplus copies. Join us as we discuss techniques developed and lessons learned from projects with White Rose Libraries here in the UK, and EAST (Eastern Academic Scholars’ Trust), Michigan Shared Print Initiative, Academic Libraries of Indiana, Central Iowa Collaborative Collections Initiative, Maine Shared Collections, and others in the US and Canada. |
