DEVCONNECT 2018: An Important Message

PLEASE READ. An important message about OCLC DEVCONNECT.

Based on feedback from the community, OCLC has decided not to hold DEVCONNECT as an in-person conference at OCLC’s headquarters June 4-6. Instead, we will publish workshop content online later this year.

We heard from a number of developers who liked the programming content and the coding workshop format. However, many also said that they didn’t have the time and/or travel budget to attend the conference in person.

Once these considerations came into focus, the decision to recast DEVCONNECT was clear. By moving online, we’ll reach more members of the community, save developers time and save the library money.

We have a lot of material to cover with the library development community, with releases of OCLC APIs, including the Identity Management API and Tipasa API; sharing new projects out of OCLC Research; and collaborating with leaders in the library space, including Terry Reese and Jason Ronallo,* on ways to improve services to library staff and patrons.

We look forward to sharing this material in an online format to make it accessible to the broader community and will post program details as soon as possible.

* FYI - For those interested in the IIIF API, Jason Ronallo already makes his workshop materials available online here.
