ReferenceME
T and Biscuits, based in South London, U.K., created a mobile reference app, ReferenceME, that has been a Top 10 Educational App Download on the iTunes store as well as being voted the App of the Week for IOS and Android by The Guardian.Written in Java and C++, the app lets students scan book barcodes to discover, cite and create lists for information in e-books, books, chapters, magazines, newspapers, websites, journals, films and more. It also provides quick search access to the world’s library collections through the WorldCat Search API.
ReferenceME lets users view the citation format as they enter their information, so they learn how to reference materials as they go. It uses WorldCat to quickly fill citation information with formatting. It is the only app in the U.K. currently that compiles a bibliography according to the guidelines of whichever style manual the user selects.
