The Discovery API provides access to most databases. Access is based on the configuration settings of the institution that is using the API. The institution is identified by the WSKey that is used to access the API.
The single database look up provides an indicator whether your institution is configured for a specific database. The entity property
configuredForAccess indicates whether your institution is configured.
An HTTP response code of 403 is returned to the client when access to a database is denied. If you believe a database should be accessible, consult your institution's Service Configuration settings. If you are an OCLC partner and you believe a database should be accessible to you, please contact OCLC's Business Development office.
The WorldCat Discovery API provides access to collections in the central index for which OCLC has been granted rights. The single database look up provides an indicator whether the database is accessible through the Discovery API. The entity property
requiresAuthentication will return a
"true" value when a database is not accessible through the API.
