The NLSA is responsible for the development and leadership of the entire LIS sector in the country. We operate on three sites: one in Pretoria and two in Cape Town. NLSA size comprises 200 FTE plus 50 contractual workers; 5 million items and serves one million clients per annum through four Core Programmes and fifteen Outreach Projects. As the CEO, I am responsible for Strategic and Executive Leadership of the entire organisation, with five Executive Directors reporting directly to me. My ability to develop and nurture strategic partnerships and the leadership talent that I represent have enabled the NLSA to grow its brand and develop programmes that touch people’s lives in a myriad of positive ways. One of the major programmes that I have initiated is The Cape Town Declaration 2015, which encourages African governments to support Public Libraries as partners in the Development Agenda.
