Creating Digital Newspapers for the Web

Course description

Institutions can now digitize their microfilmed newspaper collections and make them accessible and searchable via the World Wide Web. This workshop will focus on issues involved with both preserving and digitizing newspaper collections, particularly the back-end processing steps necessary to create searchable indexes. The workshop provides the opportunity to review and discuss appropriate methodology and software applications for digitizing newspaper collections.  Useful background: Basic knowledge of preservation and digitization terminology and techniques.
