Course description

SPECIAL NOTE: This is a custom training course designed for and open only to representatives from California libraries that received a FY2007/2008 Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA) Local History Digital Resources Project (LHDRP) grant.

Local History Digital Resources Project

In cooperation with the California Digital Library and the California State Library LSTA Grants Program, OCLC Western Service Center presents a one-day CONTENTdm training course for representatives from libraries that received a FY2007/2008 LSTA LHDRP grant.

Course attendance is mandatory for at least one digitization project manager/lead from each library that will be overseeing projects; a second, technical services lead staff member is also encouraged to attend.

This project is supported in whole or in part by the U.S. Institute of Museum and Library Services under the provisions of the LSTA, administered in California by the State Librarian.

This full-day session is a basic-level, hands-on workshop designed to assist institutions in understanding how to use the CONTENTdm Software Suite to create digital collections based on LHDRP specifications. CONTENTdm is used to create, manage, and make digital collections available on the Web. Workshop topics include: CONTENTdm highlights, a collection-building tutorial, and LHDRP metadata and controlled vocabulary implementation.

The course will be offered twice in Southern California on the dates and at the location specified above.

Check-in: 9:00-9:30 am; Instruction: 9:30 am-5:00 pm 

What you will learn

Upon completion of this course, you will have a basic-level understanding of and experience using CONTENTdm within the structure of the LHDRP grant program.
