Learn MoreOCLC offers many options to obtain the skills and knowledge you need to accomplish your mission. From live-online webinars and in-person instruction to self-paced, Web- tutorials and demonstrations, you can choose the best type of training and education for you. In addition to instruction on OCLC products and services, we also offer custom training options and consulting services. And with our national network of OCLC-certified Training Partners, you now have access to an expanded set of education and training offerings nationwide via the OCLC Training Portal, giving you additional choices to learn more. Our ApproachWe understand the complexities of your work. We also understand the limited time and resources that you and your staff have to devote to learning. For every area of specialization, and for each OCLC product, we make it easy for you to identify which courses, online tutorials, user groups and other resources are available to fulfill your needs. OCLC to Offer Free Online Training for Members in the U.S. and Canada Beginning July 1, 2011We are pleased to announce that OCLC will offer free, live-online and self-paced training for many courses that cover Cataloging, Resource Sharing and FirstSearch services beginning July 1, 2011. Updates that reflect this change will be implemented on the Training Portal over the next few weeks. Advances in e-learning technologies and the increased demand for online learning have allowed us to offer more training while affording greater economies of scale. This makes it possible to pass these savings on to OCLC members in the U.S. and Canada by offering free training on the services members rely on most. We want all members to be able to take full advantage of OCLC training and learning opportunities. OCLC trainers and training partners—Amigos, WiLS, Minitex, MLNC, MCLS, OHIONET and LYRASIS—will continue to offer a wide variety of classes and learning opportunities to help members refresh or maintain skills, ensure effective use of OCLC subscription services, and learn new applications to help members leverage their investments in the cooperative. The OCLC CurriculumThe OCLC Curriculum is a comprehensive set of guidelines and courses supporting the effective use of OCLC products and services. Each OCLC course is built around specific learning objectives, ensuring consistent, quality training. And because all of the OCLC product training offerings you find on the Portal meet the guidelines set by the Curriculum, you can count on receiving focused, quality training—whether you obtain that instruction directly from OCLC, or from one of our certified Training Partners. The OCLC Training PortalYou can now access, manage and track your learning online through a single Web interface. OCLC works with a national network of Training Partners—all certified to provide training that meets the criteria of the OCLC Curriculum. The online Training Portal is your gateway to discovering and registering for all OCLC training available from both OCLC and its Training Partners. All of the classes listed on the Training Portal are open to anyone interested in learning more about maximizing the use of OCLC services.
