Preservation Service Centers: Lacey, Washington

Established in 2002, the Preservation Service Center in Lacey, Washington offers a full range of services to preserve materials on microfilm or convert them to digital formats. The Center is equipped with two Herrmann & Kraemer microfilm cameras and a BetterLight 8K digital imaging camera.

The Center staff can provide 35mm high contrast, continuous tone, and color preservation microfilming and bitonal, grayscale, and color digital imaging. Microfiche or film scanning as well as the creation of structural, descriptive and administrative metadata for digitized material can be arranged via the Lacey center.

The Lacey Center provides libraries and cultural institutions in the Western U.S. with reformatting services close to home. Staff at the Lacey Center work closely with the Bethlehem Center to provide preservation and digitization services.

Other services offered at the Lacey Preservation Service Center in conjunction with OCLC Western Service Center include:

  • Consulting activities, which include services consultation, preservation assessment, site surveys, project planning, grant development and management consultation.
  • Training workshops.
