WorldCat Local : Activating WorldCat Local
Three easy steps to activating WorldCat Local
Is your holdings data already loaded in WorldCat? If you have been cataloguing or resource sharing using WorldCat, your data will already be there and you are one step closer to having WorldCat Local configured as your next-generation discovery tool. If your holdings data has not been fully loaded, then we can discuss with you the option of batchloading your records and ensuring ongoing updates. WorldCat Local interoperates with a number of the major ILS products, to ensure your library's circulation system delivers location and availability information at the point where users want to request an item. A list of ILS products we currently interoperate with can be found in the WorldCat Local Activation Guide. WorldCat Local can also work with your library's OpenURL resolver to connect library users with the resources they need across the range of services each library provides. Your library's WorldCat Local will be configured and customised based on information in the WorldCat Registry. It has a free, secure and easy-to-use Web interface that allows authorised library staff to create and maintain a library profile and share data about your library, including Web sites and electronic services the library provides plus any hierarchical relationships the library has with consortia and library branches. |
