Implementing resource sharing of articles

Steps to resource sharing of articles

Complete the request form to notify OCLC that you want to profile your electronic holdings in the WorldCat knowledge base so you can use enhancements to the resource sharing of articles through WorldCat Resource Sharing or ILLiad.

After you submit the form, an OCLC Implementation Manager contacts you and works with you as you complete the implementation steps:

  • Add and verify your electronic collections holdings and license data in the WorldCat knowledge base.
  • Set up resource sharing of articles.

Implementation steps and resources

The following description of the implementation steps contains links to implementation resources.

You provide information about your content providers. OCLC and its partner, Pubget, use the information in a pilot program to automate the addition and maintenance of your holdings data in the WorldCat knowledge base.

You verify your holdings data in the WorldCat knowledge base interface in OCLC Service Configuration and work with OCLC and Pubget to improve your holdings data as needed.

You add your library's license data in the WorldCat knowledge base interface.

You set up resource sharing of articles using instructions for ILLiad libraries or instructions for WorldCat Resource Sharing libraries without ILLiad.

Earlier steps and resources

Libraries that began implementing the WorldCat knowledge base before the expansion of the Pubget pilot are using other methods to add their holdings and license data:

For libraries that upload their holdings files, OCLC matches the holdings data with the WorldCat knowledge base, adds the data where matches are found, and sends a report of the results. Then these libraries add their license data to the WorldCat knowledge base interface.
