System Requirements for Microsoft Live Meeting, web-based console
Workstation requirements
- PC users:
- Microsoft Windows 98 SE, XP SP2, XP SP1a, 2000, or Windows Server 2003
- Microsoft Internet Explorer 6 with Microsoft JVM (5.0.0.3810), IE 6 SP1 with Sun JVM 1.4.2, or Netscape 7.2 with Sun JVM 1.4.2
- Mac users: Mac OSX 10.3 and Safari 1.2 with Sun JVM 1.4.2
- Solaris users: Solaris 9 and Netscape 7 with Sun JVM 1.4.2 or Mozilla 1.4 with Sun JVM 1.4.2
Other requirements
- 56 Kbps or faster connection
- 800 x 600 pixels or higher resolution monitor (1024 x 768 or higher recommended)
- Recording playback: Microsoft Windows Media Player 9 or later; 128 Kbps or faster connection
Prepare your workstation beforehand
- Close all open applications that are running on the computer except for the Web browser you'll use to participate in the Web information session.
- Set the monitor's screen resolution to 1024 x 768 (this can be done after you login). With Microsoft Windows, you change your screen resolution by going to Start > Settings> Control Panel > Display. Click on the Settings tab, then under Screen area, drag the slider, and click Apply.
- Check your workstation on the Live Meeting site. If your computer isn't ready, the site will help guide you through the required steps.
Attend the session
Five minutes prior to the start time,
- Join the session.
- Supply your Name, Meeting ID and Password (if required) on the "Join Meeting" page that appears. Click Submit. (Note the ID and Password are case sensitive and specific for each Web information session.)
- To access the audio for the session, dial the toll-free phone number given, and enter your participant code when prompted. Please mute your telephone during the session since we'll all be on a conference call.
(Many phones have a "mute" button, which enables you to hear the speaker, although the speaker won't be able to hear you.)
Potential error message
Microsoft Internet Explorer users: If you receive a computer error message that states "Java scripting disabled," here's how to enable it:
- Go to the Tools menu.
- Select Internet Options...
- Select the Security tab.
- Select either Internet Zone or Local Intranet Zone (the bottom right of your browser window will tell you which one).
- Click on Custom Level...
- Under Scripting - Active Scripting, check Enable.
