NetLibrary announces distribution agreements with 19 publishers from around the world
DUBLIN, Ohio, USA, 27 June 2008 – NetLibrary, OCLC's platform for eContent and the leading provider of eBooks for the institutional library market, has announced agreements with 19 publishers that will add thousands of new eBooks and eAudiobooks to NetLibrary's growing catalog of more than 170,000 titles.
With increasing worldwide demand for electronic content, NetLibrary continues to enhance and expand its catalog by partnering with preeminent publishers of scholarly, trade, STM and reference content. New publisher partners adding eContent to NetLibrary include:
- Compendium Publishing is an international publisher offering books in subject areas including military history, travel, American history, world history, film and photography, architecture and history of science.
- The Continuum International Publishing Group is a fast-growing academic, religious and trade book publisher, with its headquarters in London. Created in 1999 with the merger of the Cassell academic and religious lists and The Continuum Publishing Company in New York, it publishes 500 titles annually.
- CoolBeat is a traditional audio publishing house. Every downloadable audiobook offered has been created by CoolBeat, and thus is found nowhere else. The eclectic catalog includes fiction and non-fiction, children, junior, and Native American titles.
- DK Publishers Distributors is one of the India's largest publishers of e-books. Publishing over 50 titles annually, content includes management, social sciences, computer learning, engineering and mathematics.
- FiFacT is a development and marketing agency for non-fiction publishers in Finland. Among the represented publishers joining OCLC NetLibrary are Teknova Publishers, Lingonet, and Kirjapaja publishers with content in Finnish and English.
- Galaxy Press was incorporated to meet the demand for the fiction works of renowned author L. Ron Hubbard. Galaxy publishes all of L. Ron Hubbard's fiction titles including his 15 New York Times fiction bestsellers. Galaxy distributes in the United States, Canada and Latin America and provides materials in numerous formats.
- The Honor Society of Nursing, Sigma Theta Tau International, publishes and distributes books by, for, and about nurses. True to the honor society’s vision, their books support the growth of a global community of nurses who lead using scholarship, knowledge, and technology to improve the health of the world's people. Books are published on the following topics: Stories About Nurses and the History of Nursing, Leadership and Mentoring in Nursing, Career Development in Nursing, Evidence-Based Nursing, Global Issues in Nursing, Geriatric Nursing, and Technological Advances in Nursing and Health Care.
- La Guaya is an independent French-Canadian publisher based in Montreal. The publisher has its focus in the Humanities, especially Philosophy, Psychology, and Spirituality (French language content).
- Louisiana State University Press is a nonprofit book publisher dedicated to the publication of scholarly, general interest, and regional books. As an integral part of LSU, the Press shares the university's goal of the dissemination of knowledge and culture. LSU Press is one of the oldest and largest university presses in the South and is among the outstanding publishers of scholarly books in the United States.
- New Age International was established in the 1960s as Wiley Eastern Limited and is among the leading Indian Publishers of educational and reference material. The organization has published over 1,000 titles in Science and Technology, Management and Commerce, Medicine, Social Sciences and Humanities.
- Nova Publishers publishes leading-edge books and journals in science, technology and medicine. The current 2008 list of books exceeds 1,200 new titles and the current journals list is 87.
- Packt specializes in publishing focused books on specific technologies and solutions. Packt publications share the experiences of fellow IT professionals in adapting and customizing today's systems, applications, and frameworks. Their solutions-based books provide the knowledge and power to customize the software and technologies people are using to get their jobs done.
- Phoenix Books & Audio is one of the leading producers of books and audiobooks in the United States. The diverse publishing program offers titles in popular fiction and non-fiction, ranging from mystery and thriller to history, humor, business, self-help, psychology and religion. Featured titles include Atonement, Conversations with God, The Princess Bride, The Trillion Dollar Meltdown and The Ultimate Bible.
- The Policy Press is a leading social science publisher of books, reports and journals in the United Kingdom. With many cross-disciplinary titles, areas of publication include social policy and social welfare, family policy, social work, public policy, criminal justice and housing and urban policy.
- Presses de l'Université Laval is a French-Canadian publisher founded by l'Université Laval in Quebec. Publishing over 100 French-language books annually, the press has a diverse program in areas such as History, Geography, Social Sciences, Cultural Studies, and Philosophy.
- TannerRitchie specializes in the digitization of historical sources for the history of Britain and Ireland in the medieval and early modern periods. Since 2003, they have published over 300 books of historical sources. TannerRitchie was established by two former research fellows at St Andrews University, and collaborates primarily with St Andrews University Library in its digitization projects.
- Tantor Media publishes a wide variety of unabridged audiobooks and many award-winning titles including the National Book Award winner, the General Non-Fiction Pulitzer Prize winner, the Edgar Best Novel winner, PW “Listen-Up” Awards, Library Journal’s Best Audio Picks and numerous AudioFile “Earphone” awards. - Zed Books publishes cutting-edge books from an international perspective. Zed Books is celebrating 30 years as one of the most distinctive voices in independent, progressive publishing. Over the last three decades they have published more than 1,000 titles. Each of these books had a common goal: to give voice to people, places and issues at the margins.
