TRC Library Services Now Adding Records to WorldCat

OCLC is pleased to announce that Toshokan Ryutsu Center (TRC Library Services) is now a participant in OCLC’s Vendor Record Contribution Program.

TRC previously contributed records to RLIN, and those records were transferred to WorldCat when the RLG database was merged into WorldCat.  TRC is now regularly contributing MARC records for new titles to WorldCat under the OCLC symbol TRCLS.  The records contain Japanese script as well as Latin transliteration of Japanese.   

With headquarters in Tokyo, Japan, TRC supplies books and bibliographic records for Japanese books to public and school libraries throughout Japan, as well as to academic and public libraries throughout the world. 

When a TRC Books record is added or matched to WorldCat, a 938 field is added to the MARC record that contains the vendor code TRCL.  This code is indexed; vendor records are searchable in Connexion using the vendor index (Vendor (vn:) in the dropdown menu).  Some examples of the records added to WorldCat from TRC are OCLC numbers: #228497745, #228497819.  Examples of records matched are: #226813772, #226966829
