Deflections on WorldShare ILL

At the end of this session, attendees will know how to set up, maintain, and use deflection in WorldShare ILL (WSILL). This will give them the benefit of partially-automating their lending workflow, which give them the further benefits of eliminating the processing of requests they would decline to fill.

This event has passed.

Course Overview

The deflection feature in OCLC's WorldShare ILL system enables lenders to automatically deflect requests for items in their collection that they hold but do not loan over ILL. By utilizing this feature, lenders in WorldShare ILL will significantly reduce the time they spend processing lending requests. This course covers how to set up, maintain, and use deflection in WorldShare ILL via the ILL Policies Directory and the Local Holdings Record in Connexion Browser.

Audience

This course is intended for learners who have a basic familiarity with WSILL but who desire to automate their lending workflow, thus making it more efficient and less staff intensive.

It is also intended for libraries that have already implemented deflection but have a need to maintain it by training new resource sharing staff in how to use it.
