Copy Cataloging of Videos & DVDs Using RDA (MCLS)
This workshop teaches participants how to do copy cataloging of physical videos and DVDs using such tools as RDA and OCLC Bibliographic Formats. The class will address copy cataloging in the MARC format. The instruction will cover issues like the preferred source of information, physical description, authorized access point, content/media/carrier types, and choice of additional access points.
In addition, participants will learn the MARC fixed and variable fields for videos, and will study the relationships among these fields. Several MARC record examples will be examined, and two hands-on exercises will be included. The online versions of the RDA Toolkit and OCLC Bibliographic Formats and Standards will also be used.
PLEASE NOTE: Basic navigation in the RDA Toolkit will NOT be covered. Access to the RDA Toolkit is helpful but not required.
This class will be online using WebEx online workshop software. All registered attendees will receive an email with WebEx login information a few days prior to the class date.
This workshop is eligible for six (6) general library education units (LEUs) for Indiana staff.
