OCLC FirstSearch administrators can now add up to three links to external Web sites to the FirstSearch interface. Once implemented, users click on library-defined links to obtain additional information from sites such as an Ask A Librarian service, a community resource or a Web search engine.

Librarians may customize the text and/or icons for these links in the Interface Display section of their FirstSearch administrative module. After clicking on the Interface Display tab, click the link for Your Library Settings.  Use the Your Library screen to customize the links to external Web sites.

Any links that you specify appear throughout each FirstSearch session near the top of all FirstSearch screens. If you also add your library's logo to FirstSearch, the links appear directly below the logo. External Web sites display within the FirstSearch framed interface.

Our public purpose is a statement of commitment to each other—that we will work together to improve access to the information held in libraries around the globe, and find ways to reduce costs for libraries through collaboration.
