Adding New Users

Adding new users means granting CONTENTdm-specific rights to user accounts that already exist in WorldCat.org. To create new user accounts, go to www.worldcat.org/account/?page=register. Remind your users that CONTENTdm user names should not contain the ampersand (&) or percent (%) characters.

All users with a user account on the server can use the Project Client to add items, in addition to any administrative rights they have been granted.

CONTENTdm has eleven administrative levels of user rights. The matrix provides you with the functionality for each administrative user right in CONTENTdm Administration. A CONTENTdm administrator can have one or more administrative rights.

* To change permissions using the Administration interface you must have the ability to select access rights in addition to rights to edit metadata and/or configure settings and field properties.

** To change collection-level permissions, you must have rights to configure settings and field properties and the ability to select access rights.

A common scenario would be to have a senior level administrator who is responsible for adding and deleting collections and for administering user rights, other administrators who are responsible for approving items, deleting items, setting access permissions on items, and configuring collection properties, and more junior level administrators who can edit metadata and run reports.
