MeSH® — Medical Subject Headings vocabulary

Description:

The Medical Subject Headings (MeSH®) thesaurus is a controlled vocabulary produced by the National Library of Medicine and used for indexing, cataloging, and searching for biomedical and health-related information and documents. 

The MeSH® 2005 vocabulary contains 22,995 descriptor records, 83 qualifier records, and 509,645 descriptor/qualifier combinations, for a total of 532,723 records. 

The MeSH® 2006 vocabulary contains 23,885 descriptor records, 83 qualifier records, and 534,976 descriptor/qualifier combinations, for a total of 558,944 records.
