Rick joined OCLC Research in 1996. He is currently working on developing techniques to match and link authority records for geographic locations for the many participants in VIAF: The Virtual International Authority File Project. He also helps to maintain and enhance records for the FAST project.
Previously, he developed personal name matching algorithms for the Virtual International Authority File Project, and has worked on the Web Characterization Project, Pinyin conversion of Chinese records, and the FirstSearch subject thesaurus feature.
