Researchers, RAC member publish on innovative uses of OAI-PMH concepts beyond resource discovery with Dublin Core

In "Using the OAI-PMH ... Differently" (D-Lib Magazine July/August), Research Advisory Committee member Herbert Van de Sompel and OCLC researchers Jeff Young and Thom Hickey describe innovative applications of the Open Archives Initiative's Protocol for Metadata Harvesting (OAI-PMH).

Recent projects that have interpreted OAI-PMH concepts such as resource and metadata format in novel ways illustrate the usefulness of the OAI-PMH beyond the typical resource discovery using Dublin Core metadata.
