Berndt Dugall elected to OCLC Board of Trustees by
OCLC Global Council has elected Berndt Dugall, Director/Librarian at Universität Frankfurt’s Universitätsbibliothek Johann Senckenberg (Frankfurt am Main, Germany) to the OCLC Board of Trustees.
Mr. Dugall has served the OCLC membership since 2004 in a variety of Global Council roles, most recently as President (2011–2012) and Vice President (2010–2011). As Global Council Past President, he will continue to serve on the Global Council Executive Committee through June 2013. He was also Chair of the very first EMEA Regional Council.
He is a past lecturer on the Faculty of Economics at Johann Wolfgang Goethe University, Frankfurt, and is currently the Chair of the German document delivery service Subito and of the Standardisation Committee at the German National Library. His professional experience prior to these roles includes Chief Librarian Justus Liebig University, Giessen (Hesse); Deputy Librarian, Philipps University, Marburg (Hesse); and Subject Specialist at Johann Wolfgang Goethe University.
Mr. Dugall's term on the Board of Trustees will begin in November. He will replace Kathleen Imhoff, Library Consultant, whose term expires.
Berndt Dugall’s election follows Barbara Lison's appointment to the OCLC Board of Trustees in November 2012, which featued in eNews issue 31.
Ms Lison is Director of the Bremen Public Library in Bremen, Germany, and replaces Elisabeth Niggemann, Director General of the Deutsche Nationalbibliothek (DNB- German National Library), who served two four-year terms on the OCLC Board beginning in November 2004.
The OCLC Board of Trustees currently comprises 16 members. Ten of the 16 trustees currently serving on the OCLC Board of Trustees are librarians.
