OCLC has signed new agreements with leading publishers around the world to add more e-book metadata to WorldCat and to library management services through the OCLC WorldShare™ Platform.
"OCLC is always negotiating access to critical content on behalf of the cooperative to ensure access to libraries’ most popular resources," says Chip Nilges, OCLC Vice President, Business Development. "New OCLC WorldShare Platform services make it possible for OCLC and libraries to put metadata from our publisher partners to more widespread use in improving and streamlining library workflows."
OCLC recently signed agreements with Cambridge University Press, Chandos Publishing, Edward Elgar Publishing, Ltd., eLibros, McGill-Queens University Press, Momentum Press, Slipdown Mountain Publications, Society of Exploration Geophysicists, Woodhead Publishing Limited and World Scientific Publishing Company to add significant new collections to WorldCat Local, WorldCat.org and OCLC WorldShare™ Management Services.
WorldCat provides access to print and electronic forms of books, journals and databases; the digital collections of groups like HathiTrust and Google Books; and open access materials, such as the OAIster® collection.
