Anja Smit

Anja is responsible for the University Library of Utrecht University. She joined Utrecht University in March 2010, after an international career of over 20 years in library management and library automation.

Anja served as library director at two Dutch Universities (Nijmegen and Maastricht) en spent 3 years in the US. At NELINET, she was a consultant for libraries on strategic and tactical planning, human resource management, facilities renovation, and other topics critical to library administrators. Active in the library world since 1988, Ms. Smit served on several national and international committees, including The Dutch Consortium for Information Infrastructure, and the Board of a public library organization. She is currently chair of the Consortium of University Libraries and the Royal Library.
