RLG Programs : Our work : Renovating descriptive & organizing practices : Changing Metadata Creation Processes program : Recommended Principles for Cross-Domain Descriptive Metadata

Recommend principles for cross-domain descriptive metadata

As a followup to the RLG Programs Descriptive Metadata Practices survey, we will identify experts for in-depth interviews on their descriptive metadata practices across different domains and their implication for aggregating descriptions. A new working group of RLG Programs partner metadata experts will be established to create the interview script and analyze the results of the interviews. The group will:

  • identify the areas of convergence and divergence
  • make recommendations that can lead to creating descriptive metadata that is most conducive to cross-domain searching
  • recommend principles that would help make sharing descriptive metadata across libraries, archives and museums easier.
