RLG Archival Resources Redesign for
ArchiveGrid
Starting in 2004 RLG began redesigning the RLG
Archival Resources database, to make it more useful for
researchers working with primary source materials. The RLG Archival
Resources Usability Advisory Group was formed to:
- Advise on design principles to make sure we met user
needs.
- Advise on functional specifications, service identity
(name), content, and usability.
- Help test design principles and usability with
researchers at the faculty/graduate student level (using a discussion
guide and wireframes supplied by RLG). These small sample studies
suggested some design principles and preliminary functional
specifications.
The result, ArchiveGridSM,
launched in March 2006. For more information, see the
ArchiveGrid
product site.
