Using Business Intelligence to Inform Digitization
Decisions & Use of Digitized Content
We’ll seek to use tools and data at hand to
help in many aspects of selecting material to be digitized, sharing
information as to what’s being digitized, and helping to get
content into the hands of researchers.
We’re investigating how we can analyze what
has been digitized to help guide future selection of materials to
digitize whether by format or subject, to fill in gaps, build on
strengths, or go in new directions. We’ll explore
how registries (institutional, digital masters) can play a role in
coordinating digitization activities.
We’ll analyze circulation, holdings, and other
data to develop a rich view of collection composition, use, and
overlap. We’ll then demonstrate how collection
analysis and the digital registry can be used to inform selection
decisions for future digitization and look at how the copyright
register can be used to connect users with information.
