WorldCat Navigator at a glance
WorldCat Navigator consists of three core components: the discovery interface, the Navigator Request Engine (NRE), and integration with the local ILS. The discovery interface is based on the Worldcat.org platform; institutions within a consortia can choose between WorldCat Local and a group catalog view of WorldCat.org. This discovery tool offers the user a seamless search of a vast range of published resources. It includes results ranked by group, real time availability for all members within the consortial and local branding elements. The Navigator Request Engine (NRE) automates request management processes, including building a lender string based on both policies and real-time availability of members within the group. It also offers a single interface for consortia and ILL requests. WorldCat Navigator integrates with the local ILS to streamline workflows for both the borrowing and lending library. NRE integration with IlLiad also provides for the management of returnable and nonreturnable materials.
