UnityUK - The UK's only national network for resource sharing strengthens with the addition of three new members

Birmingham, UK, 4 February 2009
OCLC have just announced that the libraries of Cornwall County Council, Cardiff Council and Hertfordshire County Council are the most recent to move their lending and borrowing operations to UnityUK. This brings the percentage of British public libraries using the UnityUK service to 74%.

Provided by OCLC in partnership with The Combined Regions (TCR), UnityUK provides leading edge functionality for union catalogue management, cross database searching, holdings location and integrated interlibrary loans workflow. In 2009, the introduction of a number of new developments has ensured the service’s ongoing appeal and relevancy to all library types.

Recent work to load the UnityUK union catalogue into OCLC’s WorldCat database means members such as Hertfordshire who choose to make their holdings available on the open web and accessible through the WordCat.org public interface will benefit from users being able to find what they need more efficiently.  WorldCat.org offers all UnityUK subscribers a simple search and discovery interface for the public to use at a low cost.
