Add records to WorldCat

OCLC can add your institution's original cataloging records to WorldCat through batch processing. MARC 21, UKMARC and UNIMARC records that OCLC processing cannot match (unresolved) can be reviewed to determine whether they are original records to WorldCat and meet minimum cataloging requirements.

To be considered for addition to WorldCat, bibliographic records must adhere to national standards for cataloging, including those for descriptive cataloging and forms of headings. They should also meet OCLC K-level standards for completeness, as described in OCLC Bibliographic Formats and Standards.

OCLC database specialists decide whether to add records on the basis of the entire file, not record-by-record. If you have a special collection (for example, manuscripts, theses, unique language sets), please submit those records to OCLC as a separate file. Database specialists will evaluate them separately to determine whether records qualify as additions during their initial processing.
