There are two open positions which will serve from July 2014 to June 2017. The EMEA Regional Council Executive Committee has determined that they particularly wish to seek nominations from countries in EMEA not already represented by Delegates. Countries which are already represented include: Germany, Netherlands, UK, Denmark, Lebanon and South Africa.
Nominees should hold a leadership position in an OCLC member institution, i.e. Library Director or second in command, or a position of an equivalent calibre. Delegates to OCLC Global Council serve a term of three years during which they also become members of the OCLC EMEA Regional Council Executive Committee. During their term they advise OCLC on strategic issues and participate in both virtual and in-person meetings and may also serve on OCLC committees and working groups.
Global Council meets in person at least twice annually. The EMEA Regional Council Executive Committee meets in person in The Netherlands in late September / early October, at the EMEA Regional Council Meeting in February, and also during the Global Council Meetings. There are virtual / teleconference meetings scheduled at other times of the year. The EMEA Regional Council Executive Committee Delegates actively participate in a Regional Membership Programme and also provide input to the planning of the annual EMEA Regional Council Meeting.
The OCLC EMEA Regional Council Nominating Committee reviews and approves nominations. The Nominating Committee seeks to obtain at least two nominations for each open position that represent diversity from within the membership. The Members of the 2014 Nominating Committee will be appointed after the close for nominations.
Once the Nominating Committee approves the slate, it will announce the candidates by sending Member Update e-mails and posting the information on the OCLC website. This announcement is scheduled for February. Voting is scheduled to take place in March 2014, and election results will be announced during the OCLC Global Council Annual Meeting scheduled for 10–13 April 2014.
Questions about the process may be sent to Dorien Hooman, Legal Director and Secretary, OCLC EMEA email@example.com or to any member of the EMEARC Executive Committee.
