Amada Marcos Blázquez
Head Librarian, IE University Library & IE Business School, Instituto de Empresa, Campus de Madrid
Amada Marcos is the Head Librarian of the IE Business School and IE University at the Instituto de Empresa (IE) of Spain in Madrid and Segovia, and has held that position since 2006, combining it with her academic duties as a Professor of Information Technologies and Systems in the IE. She has worked on IE for many years, and prior to her tenure in the Instituto, she held several positions there for more than two decades. These positions included Library Specialist on Information in the Academic and Marketing departments.
She is currently also a member of IFLA, where she participates in the Management and Marketing Section, and she is a member of the Latin America and the Caribbean Group. Few days ago she presented "The responsibility of marketing library services: new challenges for libraries, the Library for IE". 2nd Regional Forum Discussion: "Information, environment and development: academic and professional views on trend report IFLA". The Regional Office for Latin America and the Caribbean of the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA). As an expert on special librarianship, she is often asked to share her knowledge and expertise in the field of Library and Information Science.
Among Amada Marcos's recent publications is the chapter on 'Digital Marketing Tools Applied to the IE Library' in Marketing Library and Information Services II, published by IFLA.
She is member of LIBER (Association of European Research Libraries), in 2013 she presented a paper Sustainability and Academic Libraries in Spain: REBIUN Report. Spanish Academic Libraries Network (REBIUN), Madrid, Spain. LIBER 42nd Annual Conference "Research Information Infrastructures and the Future Role of Libraries". Munich, Germany.
CLADEA, where she belongs to the Association of Directors of Information Centres; its main goal is to build a network for co-operation and mutual assistance between Libraries and Information Centres. She has also chaired various committees this year, whose purpose is to support and provide a forum for managers where they can discuss issues of common interest and share information.
