The “Library Tail” on the Web
OCLC is aggregating library collections physical and digital, general and specific, popular and obscure, and linking them to Web search engines and bookselling sites with the Open WorldCat program. The aim is to help libraries mobilize their collective resources and release the value of their collections on the open Web. The result? Internet searchers move from the Web to their local library. And OCLC members are more visible and their collections more accessible from sites
where many people start their search for information.
