Europe, Middle East and Africa Regional Council call for nominations
During the summer a letter was sent out to all OCLC members in Europe, Middle East and Africa informing them of changes in the governance structure of OCLC.
A new structure has been introduced to facilitate discussion of local, regional and global issues within the OCLC cooperative. Three new Regional Councils will serve as incubators for new ideas within the cooperative; be a two-way conduit to allow the broadest, most inclusive conversation among OCLC staff and members and be an inclusive forum and vehicle to allow interested memory institutions to learn more about OCLC and opportunities for participation in the cooperative. The Europe, Middle East and Africa Regional Council will meet for the first time in February 2010 in Leiden, Netherlands and a program for that meeting will be announced shortly.
Prior to that meeting, the OCLC EMEA Regional Council is seeking nominations to stand for the following open positions to OCLC Global Council:

OCLC Global Council 2009

Nominees should hold a leadership position in an OCLC member institution in the EMEA region. The definition of membership can be found in the Membership and Governance Protocols.
Global Council Delegate terms are three years in length. At this initial election there are eight open positions: three run from immediately following the election until June 2012, the remaining 5 run from July 2010 to June 2013. However, all delegates will attend three Global Council meetings.
Global Council meets in person at least once a year. The first meeting of Global Council is scheduled for April 2010 in Dublin, OH, USA. After that they may meet in other locations worldwide.
Each OCLC member in the Europe, Middle East, Africa region has a designated contact who is entitled to nominate and vote on behalf of that member. If you wish to find out who is the designated contact for your institution, please mail: uk@oclc.org.
The OCLC EMEA Regional Council has set up a nomination committee to consider all nominations. The nominating committee seeks to obtain at least two nominations for each open position that represents diversity of organisation type from within the membership. Members of the current nomination committee are:
