EMEA regional committee announced

A further step in the formation of an OCLC EMEA Regional Council was taken at the OCLC Members Council Meeting on 19-21st October. Three committees were established and charged with the formation of three regional councils: Americas, Asia Pacific and EMEA. Berndt Dugall, Universität Frankfurt was announced Chair of the EMEA Committee during the final plenary session of the Members Council meeting.

The following OCLC EMEA Members Council delegates and alternate delegates will serve with him on the committee: Klaus Ceynowa, Bayerische Staatsbibliothek; Robin Green, University of Warwick; Graham Jefcoate, Nijmegen Universiteit, and Gwenda Thomas, Rhodes University, South Africa. The EMEA Committee will work with Janet Lees, Community Liaison, to create the EMEA Regional Council which is scheduled to meet for the first time in Autumn 2009.

The development of the regional councils is a consequence of the changes to the OCLC Governance Structure approved by the Board of Trustees and Members Council during their spring 2008 meetings. The change will create three regional councils and a global council with the aim of developing OCLC as a global library collaborative.
