Managing FirstSearch

Here are some of the common considerations in setting up your FirstSearch account:

Telecommunications Options

Your library has the following telecommunications options for gaining access to your FirstSearch account:

Setting up IP address recognition

OCLC Internet Protocol (IP) address recognition access lets users click links on their libraries' Web pages and enter the OCLC FirstSearch service without typing the FirstSearch authorization number and password. Learn how to set up IP address recognition.

Automatic logon scripting

After you implement automatic logon, users click links on the library's Web page to go directly to a page within FirstSearch, bypassing the logon screen. Learn how to set up automatic logon.

Add your logos to FirstSearch

You can add the logos of your library and consortium or up to two other images to the FirstSearch service interface using the FirstSearch administrative module, IP-address recognition, or automatic logon scripting. Learn how to add your logo.

Administer and customize your FirstSearch account

Libraries manage and customize their accounts using a Web-based administrative module. Administrators log on to the administrative module using the library's FirstSearch authorization number and administrative password. Learn more about administering your FirstSearch account.
