The XXV Brazilian Congress of Biblioteconomia, Documentation and Information Science (CBBD) will take place in Florianopolis, Santa Catarina, Brazil, from 7–10 July 2013. This year’s theme, “Libraries, Information, Users— Transformative Approach for Librarianship and Information Science,” will provide an opportunity to reflect and analyze the scientific and technological advances and their impacts on the work of professionals and the sustainability of libraries.

Learn about OCLC's latest initiatives and activities. This is a great opportunity for you to connect with other members of a worldwide cooperative. Lucia Shelton, Regional Manager, OCLC Latin America and the Caribbean, will keynote this event.

Since 2004, Lucia has supported OCLC members in Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Ecuador, Uruguay and Venezuela. She presents on a variety of topics related to libraries, museums and archives throughout the region. Lucia's professional experience includes the financial sector in Brazil and teaching English as a second language. She speaks fluent Portuguese, Spanish and English. She holds degrees in accounting as well as international marketing. Lucia is the primary author for the OCLC blog, A View of South America (, where she writes about OCLC and library issues in the Latin American and Caribbean region.
