First OCLC EMEA Regional Council Meeting Announced
Earlier in the year, OCLC made major changes to its governance structure to enable greater interaction and collaboration with its members worldwide. For the first time different regions were given the opportunity to organise meetings in order to articulate their own regional needs and interests. The EMEA Regional Council Meeting is your chance to influence OCLC's products and services and become part of a vibrant community that reflects the interests of the thousands of libraries, archives and museums across the many diverse cultures of Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
On 24-25 February 2010, the first EMEA Regional Council Meeting will take place in Leiden, the Netherlands.
The keynote session on Day 1 will cover Cloud Computing and include a presentation by OCLC’s Matt Goldner. We are also delighted to be joined by ShanachieTour. Jaap van de Geer and Erik Boekesteijn of the world famous DOK in Delft have travelled round the world collecting stories to help libraries to meet up with the challenges of the 21st century, and will share some of those stories with us at our first Meeting.
On Day 2, will be your opportunity to hear directly from the senior leadership of OCLC and more importantly provide your feedback. Jay Jordan, OCLC’s President and CEO will lead a conversation with other members of OCLC leadership on the issues that are of primary importance to the membership.
The programme also includes product workshops on major services like WorldCat Local, TouchPoint, WorldCat Resource Sharing and QuestionPoint. Andrew Pace will also be offering a session on the recently announced Web-scale Management Services initiative.
We do hope you can join us to celebrate this, the first OCLC EMEA Regional Council Meeting for what promises to be a lively, topical and engaging two days.
