OCLC named among 'Best Places to Work' in Central Ohio

OCLC ranked 5th for organizations with 250 or more employees

DUBLIN, Ohio, 10 November 2017OCLC, the nonprofit technology organization and global library cooperative based in Dublin, has been named among the "Best Places to Work" in Central Ohio.

OCLC was ranked 5th in the category for organizations with 250 or more employees. The rankings were determined by workplace satisfaction surveys completed confidentially by employees along with data collected by Quantum Workplace, an Omaha, Nebraska-based research organization.

This year, 200 nominations were evaluated for this recognition and a total of 50 were selected as Best Places to Work in five different categories. Awards were presented to finalists in each category during a luncheon, hosted by Columbus Business First, at the Hyatt Regency Downtown, Columbus.

"This year, OCLC is celebrating 50 years of service to libraries," said Skip Prichard, OCLC President and CEO. "It is critical for a technology organization like ours to evolve and change if it is to thrive for 50 years. OCLC has always made it a top priority to provide a work environment that supports our team in our mission to serve libraries. We have continued to change programs and benefits along with staff needs and expectations over the years. We take care of our people because it is our people who make OCLC a great place to work."

OCLC provides shared technology services, original research and community programs to libraries worldwide. OCLC and member libraries cooperatively produce and maintain WorldCat, the most comprehensive global network of data about library collections and services.

In addition to this recognition among "Best Places to Work" in Central Ohio, this year OCLC was named among the Best Employers in Ohio for the ninth consecutive year by the Best Companies Group in conjunction with the Ohio Society for Human Resource Management State Council.

The Best Places to Work program, launched in 2005, is a voluntary nomination-based program. Each nominated company had the option to participate in the survey process free of charge. Quantum Workplace hosted an anonymous online survey with questions about workplace satisfaction.

All companies that met the completed survey requirements had their individual scores tallied by Quantum Workplace and were sent an overview of their company's scores. Each organization is ranked against the other companies in its size category. The top companies in each size category are honored as Business First’s Best Places to Work.
