De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde is first library in Asia to select OCLC WorldShare Management Services

DUBLIN, Ohio, 11 August 2016—De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde, in Manila, Philippines, has selected OCLC WorldShare Management Services, becoming the first library in Asia to move to the cloud-based library management system.

WorldShare Management Services (WMS) is a complete, cloud-based library management system that offers all of the applications needed to manage a library, including Acquisitions, Circulation, Metadata, Resource Sharing, License Management and a single-search Discovery interface for library users. WMS also includes a range of Reports that help libraries understand their activities and track key metrics over time.

"We are in the age of cloud computing," said Victoria M. Dayao, Assistant Vice Chancellor, Learning Information Systems and Services, De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde. "When I learned more about OCLC's WorldShare Management Services in the cloud, I knew that it was a modern management system that could provide added value to our staff and our users, and I supported it for use by our college library. WMS has the potential to enrich the innovative culture of the college, and we look forward to WMS supporting the learning experiences of all users."

"We were in the process of replacing our existing integrated library system when staff from OCLC visited our library to introduce WorldShare Management Services," said Michael Anthony A. Mojica, Director, Learning Resource Center, De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde. "WorldShare Management Services brings together all the functionality we need into one solution. And because it is in the cloud, OCLC manages the software and hardware so that we can focus on serving our users."

"We are so pleased to welcome De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde as the first WMS library in Asia," said Andrew H. Wang, Vice President, OCLC Asia Pacific. "We signed this agreement just before the fifth anniversary of WMS. We celebrated this anniversary by welcoming De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde into the WMS community."

"OCLC's WorldShare Management Services is built on the library community concept, linking global libraries together," said Shu-En Tsai, Executive Director, OCLC Asia Pacific Services. "The addition of De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde extends the global WMS community to Asia."

Libraries worldwide are using WMS to share bibliographic records, publisher and knowledge base data, vendor records, serials patterns and more. With WorldCat at its foundation, WMS enables libraries to draw on the collaborative data and work of libraries worldwide for more efficient workflows. WMS also provides libraries with the unique opportunity to share innovation, applications, infrastructure, vision and success in serving their users.

More than 500 libraries spanning 6 continents—Africa, Asia, Australia, Europe, North America and South America—have selected WorldShare Management Services as their library management system since its introduction on 1 July 2011.
