DUBLIN, Ohio, 18 March 2016—OCLC has been named among the "Healthiest Employers in Central Ohio" for the third consecutive year. The nonprofit global library cooperative was ranked third out of 13 finalists in the large company category by the Healthiest Employers Awards Program.
Based in Dublin, OCLC provides research and technology services to thousands of libraries around the world. OCLC and its member libraries cooperatively produce and maintain WorldCat, the world's largest online database for discovery of library materials.
"We appreciate this award as recognition of our support for a culture that places high value on health and wellness," said Skip Prichard, OCLC President and CEO. "We consider OCLC's comprehensive benefits and wellness program as an investment in people. Our staff values this kind of support, and we will continue to promote health and wellness at OCLC, not only in Central Ohio, but in our offices around the world."
The Healthiest Employers Awards Program is organized by Columbus Business First in partnership with Healthiest Employers LLC, a privately held data research company in Indianapolis. The program is intended to identify companies in the region that go the extra mile to create an environment for workers to be active, fit and healthy.
OCLC's wellness program offers a wide variety of programs, financial rewards and incentives. These include on-site biometric screenings, telephonic and on-site health coaching, a health and well-being library and an on-site fitness center that offers basketball, racquetball and sand volleyball courts.
In September 2015, OCLC was one of just 11 organizations nationwide to be recognized by UnitedHealthcare with its "Well Deserved" award, an annual honor given to employers who have implemented innovative, industry-leading worksite wellness programs that helped improve their employees' health and well-being. OCLC has also recently been named among Computerworld's Best Places to Work in IT, "Best Places to Work" in Central Ohio and Best Employers in Ohio.
