Kuang-hua Chen was born in Taipei, Taiwan, R.O.C. He received B.S. in 1986, M.S. in 1991, and Ph.D. of Computer Science in 1996, all from National Taiwan University. He joined Department of Library and Information Science at National Taiwan University in 1996. Currently, he is a full professor and the University Librarian of National Taiwan University. His research interests are Information Retrieval and Evaluation, Citation Analysis and Evaluation, Natural Language Processing, Digital Archives and Digital Humanities, and Intelligent Information Systems. He has published more than 150 research papers, four book titles, five patents, and other publications. He is the Chairman of Taiwan OCLC Governing Members Consortium, the Executive Director of Taiwan Association for Digital Humanities, and the President of Interlibrary Cooperation Association, Taiwan.
He is responsible for all services and functionalities of NTU Library. The NTU Library currently houses more than 4,040,000 volumes and subscribes to more than 19,000 journals, 560 databases, 2,604,000 e-books, 49,000 e-journals, 30 newspapers and nearly 270,000 audiovisual materials available, making it the largest academic library in Taiwan. In addition to the Main Library, the University Library system also contains two branch libraries: the Law & Social Sciences Library and the Medical Library. There are also six departmental libraries for the departments of Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Oceanography, Library & Information Science, and Law. Currently, more than 150 librarians and staffs serve our patrons in NTU Library.
He is the Chairman of Taiwan OCLC Governing Members Consortium, the Executive Director of Taiwan Association for Digital Humanities and the President of Interlibrary Cooperation Association, Taiwan.
