Bradley Schaffner

Bradley L. Schaffner has served as College Librarian and Senior Lecturer at Carleton College, Northfield, MN since July, 2012.  He was Head of the Slavic Division of Harvard College Library from 2004 through 2012. From 1989 to 2004, he worked as Coordinator of Collection Development, Head of International Programs, and Head of the Slavic Department at the University of Kansas Libraries in Lawrence. He is the author/compiler of Bibliography of the Soviet Union, Its Predecessors and Successors (Metuchen, NJ: Scarecrow Press, Inc., 1995) and is co-editor of Books, Bibliographies and Pugs: a Festschrift to Honor Murlin Croucher (Bloomington, IN: Slavica, 2006). He has published and presented numerous articles and papers focusing on Slavic and international librarianship, as well as preservation issues related to Slavic publishing. He received the University of Kansas Chancellor's Award for Distinguished Librarianship in 1998, and the Indiana University School of Library and Information Science Distinguished Alumni Award in 2005.

He is a graduate of Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter Minnesota, and holds an MA and is ABD in Russian history; and an MLS, all from Indiana University, Bloomington.
