More than 150 librarians attended in person, and even more participated virtually, to hear updates from the cooperative’s member leadership, including Anne Prestamo, John Helmer, Bill Maes (via video) and Wilbur Stolt, plus OCLC President and CEO, Jay Jordan, and Trustees Larry Alford, Kathleen Imhoff and Brian E.C. Schottlaender.
OCLC Symposium on The Infinite Collection: Resources in the Digital Age
The explosion of ways in which we are digitally connected impacts every part of our lives. Whether we’re researching or sharing our own media, the digital realm has extended its influence. This session explored the current and future boundaries of libraries’ collections, and how libraries will manage collections that are increasingly infinite. Clifford Lynch, Executive Director of the Coalition for Networked Information, provided the keynote address. Brian E.C. Schottlaender, The Audrey Geisel Librarian at the University of California, San Diego Libraries, moderated the symposium, which also included two distinguished panelists: Rick Anderson, Associate Director for Scholarly Resources and Collections, J. Willard Marriott Library, University of Utah, and Bobbi Newman, Co-founder of the Libraries and Transliteracy Project.
