Vice President, OCLC Global Systems and Information Technology
Gene oversees activities related to technical operations—hardware, software and process—including technical infrastructure strategy, design and implementation, data center strategy and operations, enterprise data security, first-level application support for membership services, and internal collaboration systems used by all OCLC employees worldwide.
Gene joined OCLC in 1984, holding positions of increasing technical expertise until 1993. Since then, he has held several key leadership roles in network engineering, systems support and operations.
Gene is active in the central Ohio IT community, participating in the Columbus CIO Forum, which meets monthly to talk about new technologies and share information on best practices. He also serves on the planning committee and scholarship evaluation committee for TechColumbus and is on the board of the Dublin Chamber of Commerce. In addition, he has served as adjunct faculty at Franklin University.
Gene holds an MBA from Ohio University and a bachelor’s degree in Music Education, with studies in Computer and Information Science and Business, from The Ohio State University.
