A universe of information to meet increasing demands
The FirstSearch service delivers bibliographic records and library holdings from WorldCat, electronic journals from the archive of Electronic Collections Online, and access to a number of databases to give your users a convenient and easy-to-use reference service that is searchable in five languages.
Single-search access through WorldCat.org-based services
All the databases on FirstSearch can be searched through WorldCat.org. This site provides users with the kind of user-friendly Web search experience familiar to them. Libraries that subscribe to the WorldCat database, OCLC Base Package or the OCLC Collection also benefit from increased visibility of their collections on the Web, where most people begin their research.
Through WorldCat.org, your users can use a single search box to simultaneously search WorldCat, your FirstSearch databases and more than 140 million article records from sources that include ArticleFirst, MEDLINE, ERIC, British Library Inside Serials, PapersFirst, ProceedingsFirst, JSTOR and Elsevier.
Direct links to Web information and loan requests
Users can borrow articles and materials from other libraries using OCLC holdings information and a link to the OCLC Interlibrary Loan service. They can also jump to Internet resources from links in WorldCat and other databases.
