  • OCLC Control Number expansion

    The OCLC Control Number is anticipated to reach 1 billion sometime after 1 July 2013.  At that point, OCLC will increase the length of the OCLC Control Number to accommodate a variable-length number string.

    As a part of preparations for the future implementation of RDA, OCLC staff have been discussing how RDA data and practices might be incorporated more fully into WorldCat.
