WorldCat Collection Sets™
Pre-packaged sets of records for vendor materials, and ongoing record delivery as titles are added
OCLC is discontinuing WorldCat Collection Sets in the coming weeks. Some sets are no longer available and others will be migrated to our WorldCat knowledge base with ongoing record updates delivered via WorldShare Metadata Collection Manager. This list contains the library-created electronic sets that are in the WorldCat knowledge base and those that are not. Please refer to the tabs in the spreadsheet to determine the appropriate list to review.
- Microform and Non-Microform Collections Sets are no longer available
- Electronic Collection Sets migration to the WorldCat knowledge base (with record delivery available via WorldShare Metadata Collection Manager) will happen on a scheduled basis beginning in September and lasting through December 2014
If you use WorldCat Collection Sets and would like additional information, please contact WorldCatCollectionSetsMigration@oclc.org
OCLC WorldCat Collection Sets let your library’s users quickly have access to a newly purchased set of microform, nonmicroform, or electronic content by providing a matching, precataloged set of MARC records ready to load into your local system. Your staff is spared the process of cataloging hundreds or thousands of individual titles. And your holdings of the new materials are automatically set in WorldCat, so they are immediately visible to sharing libraries around the world.
“Many of the WorldCat sets represent subject areas requiring cataloging expertise an individual library may not be able to draw upon. As a law library that has provided cataloging for several sets, our catalogers are able to approach these sets with a level of subject analysis that truly increases patron access.”
